TWO REMAIN an opera by Jake Heggie

fortyfive downstairs (45 Flinders Lane, Melbourne)

July 2024

We know it is essential to bring new and diverse stories to the opera stage. The opera TWO REMAIN by Jake Heggie is based on the true stories of Holocaust survivors: Krystyna Żywulska, a political dissident and Gad Beck, a Jewish gay man, who suffered not only for his religion, but for his homosexuality. This opera is an important reminder of the horrific pain inflicted during the Holocaust, and a reflection of the enduring power of love and humanity. This production was an Australian premiere.
